Feed the World’s free resources are so helpful to teachers that we want everyone to know about them! So we didn’t miss the chance to participate in the Science Education Council of Ohio’s 2018 Science Symposium.
Ohio Corn & Wheat-sponsored Feed the World’s booth in the exhibit hall allowed them to connect with teachers attending the symposium. Knowledgeable FTW alumni educators shared about how they use the curriculum in their classrooms and made sure booth visitors knew about summer workshops and other outreach events.
Heather Bryan and Jane Hunt led two workshops using FTW lessons:
- Bring the Stream into Your Classroom— a stream simulation that teaches water quality assessment through chemical testing and macro invertebrate testing.
Ebony Hood of Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District won a water quality test kit.

- Fun with Ethanol! Engineering Design in the Classroom—determine the best feedstocks, enzyme usage and fermentation rates for ethanol production, then analyze the ethanol produced.
Teresa Thornes of Perry High School won a “Corn Fermentation in a Bag” kit.
