Distillation with grant supplies

Feed the World alumni educator Jeff Jostpille received an ethanol distillation kit through the Ohio Corn & Wheat’s grant program. He recently put the kit through its paces with his Environmental Science class.

“We have been studying biofuels and did some research on ethanol production,” Jostpille said. “Using YouTube, we took several virtual tours of ethanol plants, including cellulitis ethanol plants. Then I had the students come up with what ingredients we might need after explaining enzymes and yeast to them.”

Jostpille’s lab used corn flour, enzymes, and yeast supplied by Feed the World, along with the distillation equipment. “Please pass along my thanks for the grant to get the equipment!” Jostpille said.
