Practice tests ensure more accurate results later. Jeffrey Baker’s environmental science class at Alpha School sharpened their skills with water and soil tests.

“The water quality tests were done on water samples from the Licking River in preparation for an upcoming field trip with Perry Soil and Water,” Baker said. “We did pH and other chemical tests. The soil tests—the soil triangle and slake test and using a soil column—were done with samples from the school.”

The education and materials Baker received at the Ohio Corn and Wheat-sponsored Feed the World summer workshop made these activities possible.
Baker said his middle school class dissected corn earlier in the year. “We also just started studying the cell in biology and we will use the corn DNA experiment. Awesome stuff!”
