Virtual Field Trip: A Day in the Life of a Corn Farmer

dMmIMiddle and high school teachers of environmental science, biology, chemistry, and physics: virtually connect your classroom to a working Ohio corn farm for a day in the life of a farmer.

Middle and high school teachers of environmental science, biology, chemistry, and physics: virtually connect your classroom to a working Ohio corn farm for a day in the life of a farmer.

Stream live to Haerr Grain Farm to see what farmers do to prepare for planting, growing and harvesting corn and discover how science and technology guide their daily decisions.

Students will experience a day in the life of corn farmers:

• Daily decisions about equipment operation and field conditions
• How farmers use data from soil analysis and crop monitoring
• Technology applications for precision agriculture
• Problem-solving and management decisions farmers make each day

Meet the farming experts: Scott Haerr (third-generation farmer and Ohio Corn Marketing Program Vice Chair) and his son Justin (OSU Agricultural Systems Management graduate) will explain the annual farming practices to produce a corn crop and demonstrate harvest operations during the live visit.

This virtual field trip is brought to Ohio classrooms at no cost by Ohio Corn & Wheat farmers.
